Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable time from the time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Job Requirements

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer for the refresh program for the Integrated Guidance Program.  The selected candidate will be involved with refresh program related to the Mobile Automatic Cable Teater (MACT) and the Guidance And Missisle Bay Interface Tester (GAMBIT). This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


Major contributor to the design, build, integration, test, and delivery of the MACT and GAMBIT to the US Navy

Participates in requirements analysis, requirements definition, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), and validation. Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle Plans sub tasks for activities related to the development cycles for both the MACT and GAMBIT Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses Works under general supervision Contact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department Will require contact outside Engineering with external customers (Navy & Draper Labs) Travel may be required to test both the MACT and GAMBIT at the Strategic Weapon Facilities at Bangor WA and Kings Bay, GA

Design Verification Testing (DVT) for both the MACT and GAMBIT including Program Alternation activities the Strategic Weapon Facilities and the Eastern Range, Cape Canaveral, FL Provides resolution to problems of moderate scope Keeps abreast of technology trend


Familiarity with Navy Test and Support Equipment

Solid knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories and requirements management

Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and able to handle more complex assignments

Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction

Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Solid written and verbal communications skills

Creative thinker

Ability to multi-task between two tasks (MACT & GAMBIT)

Builds productive internal/external working relationships.

Solid skills in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions

Ability to clearly recognize and report relevant to sound systems engineering design
