As a server, you must be motivated, team oriented, friendly, dependable and driven to providing excellent guest service. A qualified candidate will strive to WOW our guests every day. As a server you will be responsible for answering questions, suggestively selling, and creating an upbeat atmosphere for our guests. As a server, you will be responsible to successfully complete our alcohol training program. A qualified applicant must have good communication skills and have the ability to multi task. Physical requirements include standing for up to 8 hours during a shift and be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds. The server also assists with cleaning tables, stocking, running a register, setting up place settings, transporting dishware to the kitchen and doing assigned tasks. The server must demonstrate basic math skills with excellent reading, writing and verbal communication skills.

As a Dishwasher , you will be responsible for washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans, using dishwasher or by hand. Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas. Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in a clean orderly condition. As a Dishwasher, you will also assist with bussing tables, stock supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or storage units. Stock and thoroughly clean restrooms throughout your shift. Sweep and scrub floors throughout diner. Clean and empty all garbage cans. Sort and remove trash and cardboard, placing it in designated pickup areas. Transfer supplies or equipment between storage and work areas. Lastly load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food or supplies. A qualified applicant must be able to lift 25-50 pounds and stand for up to 8 hours

As a Grill Cook/Line Cook, you will be responsible for completing all assigned prep work, setting up cook’s station, maintaining product presentations, product quality, cook time standards and preparing all menu items according to the Diner’s recipe, plate presentations and specifications. Duties of this position will include set up of equipment, verification of stock, the cleaning of cooking equipment and preparing food items to specs while maintaining a clean work area. Physical requirements include standing for long periods and being able to lift 25-50 pounds.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Preparing all fresh made to order food items
• Maintaining all self-service food offerings including but not limited to Coffee, Fresh case items, dispensers, fountain machines, and condiment center
• Load product into fresh case as needed
• Operating the cash register
• Provide best in class customer service
• Maintain high levels of sanitation
• Assist in monitoring of inventory levels for freshness and availability
• Stocking: back stocking, filling condiments, filling, supplies, and rotating product by received date

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Basic knowledge of the product, production processes and other techniques for maximizing the level of production.
• Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
• Ability to work alone or as a member of a team
• Awareness of sanitation and hygiene procedures and practices,
• Concern for the safety of self and co-workers and a responsible attitude.

Training Requirements:
• General safety, sanitation and hygiene procedures.
• Product/production processes.
• Allergen & Food Safety Awareness

Physical Demands:
• Physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of materials.
• Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and/or reach.
• Manual dexterity- the ability to quickly move hands and arms, manipulate and/or assemble objects.
• The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects.

Personal Protective Equipment:
• The use of gloves, hat/visor, and apron is required.

Work Environment: Working conditions are normal food service environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds. Loose fitting clothing, fake nails/nail polish and jewelry is not permitted. Long hair must be securely tied back.

The Whately Diner Fillin’ Station is a classic “Princess” style diner built
in 1958 by the Kullman Company of New Jersey. It was originally located in
Chicopee, MA where it was known as the Princess Diner. It was purchased
by the F.L. Roberts Company in the early 1970’s and moved to the current
location. Originally, it was known as the “Maverick.”
The diner was recognized as one of the top ten diners in the United States
in the September 1998 issue of USA Today, appeared in Yankee Magazine,
and was featured on “Best of Diners”, a Food Channel special.
A scene from the motion picture “In Dreams” starring Annette Benning
and Robert Downey, Jr. was filmed at the diner. Some celebrities that have
passed through the doors of The Whately Diner Fillin’ Station include:
Jason Robard & family, Ernest Borgnine, Christopher Reeve, Dr. Ruth &
husband, Michael Douglas, Matt Dillon, Susan Lucci, Sy Becker,
Chris Farley, BB King, Vanilla Ice and the Beastie Boys.
